African Safari Day Two

On our second full day at The Madikwe Game Reserve we saw tons (literally!) of animals on our morning game drive, even more on our afternoon game drive, and we had a huge group of more than 2 dozen elephants visit our watering hole just before lunch. We even spotted some "wild game" at our hot tub!

Yellow hornbills were everywhere...

We found the lion cubs playing in the fading afternoon sun...

...While the parents napped. That's one sleeping male and two female lions.

This was the biggest bull elephant we saw on safari.
He came down to drink at this pond while we were taking pictures of birds.

Afternoon traffic...

We saw two brown hyena pups playing in the late-day sunshine at the entrance to their den.

At our watering hole...

We counted 26 elephants!!

This was the cutest baby...

Mommy had already headed into the bush and baby was running to catch up.

The last one to leave...
